Natural diamond or lab-grown (man-made) diamond, which is the best option?

When we are finally decided to take the next step of committing to our partner, we find ourselves needing to choose the best option that fits our budget: the engagement ring.

We find all kinds of options and prices; in this matter, we can find the option of choosing between a natural diamond or a man-made or lab-grown diamond. In my opinion, I find advantages and disadvantages in either of the two options.

The advantage of lab-grown diamonds is their cost; they can be up to 60 or 70% cheaper than natural diamonds. The disadvantage I see so far, as I write this blog post, is their resale value. I think trying to sell a second-hand diamond would be difficult. Perhaps in the near future, they will find a place in a market that values them.

In the case of a natural diamond, the great advantage is that there is a market that values it for its characteristics, regardless of whether the diamond has passed through many hands; it is always possible to recover a significant part of the investment. The disadvantage compared to a created one is the cost.
